Base6 is a Canadian technology consultancy working across artificial intelligence, software engineering and organisational change.
We help organisations use new technology to solve practical problems, work more productively and take on things they couldn’t before. We judge our work by one test: does it help people get something important done?
Our story
Base6 started from the idea that technology, innovation and collaboration could help with some of the hardest problems facing organisations and society.
From the start, our work has crossed the usual lines between software development, organisational strategy, network building and systems thinking. We’ve worked on projects in sustainability, climate change, professional collaboration and digital transformation.
Over time, AI has become a larger part of that work. It offers more than a way to speed up existing processes. It gives organisations new ways to find knowledge, coordinate work and deliver value.
Most organisations don’t need another presentation about AI’s potential. They need someone who understands both the technology and how organisations operate, and who can build solutions that work. That is what we do today: we bring our experience in software engineering, AI development and organisational systems to practical AI implementation.
Our philosophy - Technology is only part of the solution.
We look at technology through a systems lens. An organisation is a network of people, information, relationships, incentives, processes and decisions, and new technology changes how those parts interact. So we look past individual tools to how a solution fits the whole.

- Prove the value. We focus on uses where AI delivers value you can demonstrate, with safeguards that match what’s at stake.
- Keep it manageable. We choose the right technology, check its outputs, keep people involved where it matters, and make sure systems are understandable and maintainable.
We’re optimistic about AI because we’ve seen how useful it is when it’s applied carefully.

Rik Logtenberg
Co-Founder & CEO
Rik Logtenberg is a software developer, entrepreneur and organisational leader whose experience spans technology, climate innovation, local government and collaborative networks.
He has founded and led technology and climate-focused initiatives. His work includes AI-enabled platforms, knowledge management systems, professional networks and digital tools that help organisations collaborate and make better use of information.
Rik also brings direct experience in public-sector governance and nonprofit leadership, and in the practical work of steering organisations through technological and social change.
At Base6, he leads the development of practical AI solutions, combining hands-on software development with an understanding of how people, processes and institutions work.
